Blackberry Torch 9860 Review

The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a complete touchscreen smartphone unlike its Slider ancestor 9800. The phone has a lot on its shoulders to keep the name of the messenger fame Blackberry, as it does not provide any kind of keyboard. Thus, the messenger is totally based on on-screen keyboard. The phone also is a complete touch different from its sibling the BlackBerry Storm series which has SurePress technology. Guess BlackBerry has not stressed onto business much this time, and targeted rather a younger customers for the smartphone. Lets talk more in Detail about the BlackBerry 9860.

Performance:

The performance of the BlackBerry Torch is quite good, as of its BlackBerry V7 OS. But as the tag name BlackBerry is attached to it, one can expect more. For ex- A clear lag is visible if you turn the phone to switch from portrait view to landscape view.Well this phone certainly has to work better as it is placed in the market to compete with Android and Windows Mobile OS. Well in any case, its Blackberry so as far as Blackberry services, messenger, emails, etc are concerned, this gadget fulfills it all. The portrait mode QWERTY is hard to work with but when rotated to landscape, it becomes quite easier.

Design:

Truly speaking the design is just something more than average when we talk about looks and physical appearance. Talking of the body. The front part is a kind of finger print magnet. The back is quite solid and far good, It provides a good grip to the Hand. The phone also has a trackpad, to work efficiently, where sometimes touch cannot act fast. The trackpad is smooth and responsive. The phone has volume keys on the side and a USB port around the body. The return of the infamous almost invisible lock key is seen in the phone unlike BlackBerry Bold 4. The audio Jack is placed on the side and the back sports a 5 mp camera. The overall design is not business class based as is the Blackberry trend. The Phone has average looks with a fine quality body

Battery:

The phone can provide you a whole day with increased and heavy usage with its 1230 mah battery. With optimal usage the battery can last upto more than 1.5 days with a single charge. Well what more can you expect from a smartphone.

  • 5 MP camera

  • trackpad
  • good body quality

  • Have to take up BlackBerry services from service providers to enjoy BlackBerry services
  • No physical keyboard for a phone from messenger fame company
  • No videocalling and no front facing camera either
  • No NFC
  • No Flash support
