Design And Build Quality:
The Sony tablet S isn’t an exception and sports a sophisticated look in black and silver. The retail box packs in a tablet, charger, a wrist strap, and a warranty card. It has a wedge shaped design, giving it a very distinct futuristic look, and does a great job when placed on a table. The tab features a unique magazine fold-out design that props the screen at an angle when placed on a table. Sony Tablet S weighs 625 grams which is bit heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 (Galaxy Tab 10.1) that weighs just 560 grams.
Software Performance and Apps:
Sony India us offering five exclusive apps designed and bundled with Tablet S that includes Video Chaska, Star Player, Big Flix, Bollywood Hungama and Meragaana. These apps offer India specific content such as videos, Music, wallpapers, and even movies on demand service.
Multimedia:
The built in music player is impressive, and features a built-in equalizer that could do with a few more presets. There’s a 5-megapixel camera in the rear center of the tablet which comes without any LED Flash. This camera is powered by Exmor R for Mobile image sensor for HD quality images and also record video in 1280×720 pixel resolution. Considering that this is more of a gaming tablet, the quality is not so disappointing and images offer good amount of details. The videos recorded are saved in the MP4 format, and are not too bad either.
Performance/Battery Life:
The Tablet S really shines during game-play. Everything’s snappy, and I experienced no bugs in any of the Playstation titles I dug into. And as I said earlier, multitasking doesn’t seem to bother the S much. I was able to have up to ten different apps working at once without seeing a noticeable slow-down in performance. With a normal usage – involving watching movies for 1 hour 45 minutes, listening to music for roughly 25 minutes and light browsing – the battery lasted for about 9 hours.
Pros:
- Great Design
- Impressive music player.
Cons:
- Proprietary Charging port
- Only one PlayStation game available in India
- Poor battery life.
Conclusion:
Undoubtedly Sony wins and takes away all the brownies with the fresh and different industrial design made Tablet S.
