Nokia has some serious plans to launch some low priced windows phone in market to compete with Android, the famous operating system from Google. Android phones are available in the market on a wide variety of prices. Android can be found from entry level to super smart phones. But the scope of windows is limited. This also depicts the story of success for Android. But now Nokia has plans to provide Windows operating system on low end mobile phones too.
Meltemi, the low priced smartphone project from Nokia has been closed, but Nokia assures its commitment towards the low end smartphones. Nokia has revealed that it has plans for launching cheaper smartphones. These smartphones will be cheaper than the current cheapest Windows smartphone from Nokia, the Lumia 610.
Microsoft is also supporting Nokia in lowering the prices of Windows phones. Stephen Elop, company CEO, stated at a conference that Nokia will lower the prices of Windows smartphones less than the Lumia 610, and with the help engineers from Microsoft, they may even go lower than that. He stated that Nokia is involved with the engineers from Microsoft in effort to bring cheaper smartphones based on Windows operating system to have a strong foot in the emerging markets ofIndiaandChina.
If the plans of Nokia succeed than the days are not far thatIndiawill see a Windows smartphone, maybe under ₹ 10’000.
